Established by Miss Cathy SK Lam (Producer, Director, Writer and Actress) in April 2011. Which focus on text-based theater, admires the beauty of text and respect any kind of text. 

In September 2011, ThreeWoods Playwright was officially registered as a non-profit theatre company in Hong Kong. Miss Angel SY Chan (Actress, Drama Instructor, Playwright, Director and Producer) and Miss Tsz Yee Tsui (Renowned Stage Technical Director) was invited to join the company as the Company Manager and Production Consultant respectively and Miss Cathy SK Lam as the Artistic Director. 

We believe in GOD, humanity and theatre.

We hunger and seek for the new thinking through different approach of text and language, we question and explore the present world through the play, we hope and search the way to a be a better man through the dialogues between theatre and the audience. Theatre and society are closely related. 

Our production can be seen in Europe, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Mainland. We know this road is long and tough, but it is also fascinating to keep us moving on. 

Cathy SK Lam (Artistic Director)

Cathy SK Lam (Three Woods) is the Artistic Director and the founder of ThreeWoods Playwright. 

She received MSc in Social Research Method (Philosophy) from the London School of Economics and BA Hons (Magna Cum Laude) in Political Science and Analytical research from the University of California. She studied voice and acting class in Pasadena City College with Anita Adcock and Whitney Rydbeck. During her studies, she joined the backstage of school's show case "King Lear" and " Hotel Paradiso".

After she graduated, she joined Horizon Theatre Studio and received acting training there. She became the company manager of Theatre Horizon and appointed as the Executive Manager in Theatre Horizon Company Limited during 2008-2011. During her time in Theatre Horizon, she has been performed and produced in numbers of production of Theatre Horizon included "The City's Tiger Moth ", "Writing Winds Writing Waves", "Who Beat The Roaches In My House?"(Starring), "Mysterous!The Snow White's Backstage"(Starring), "Rose and Rosa", "Hey God, Did You Drop Something?!"(Starring), "Can't Play Won't Play" By Dario Fo(Translator & Starring)、"Winds Of Change" (The Chorus Leader)、"I AM HAPPY"(One Man Show)、"The Leftover"(Playwright & Executive Director), "French Kiss" (Awarded as one of the most popular production in the 21st Hong Kong Drama Award)、School Touring"Super Politeman: Happy School"(Playwright & Starring), "The Broken Window" , cooperated with The Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention, Hong Kong(Playwright).

Besides Theatre Horizon, she has also worked with other company, such as Syan Production "The Anonymous" (Producer and Actress), and Dramatic Activity "Three Of Us" (Playwright and Director). As a christian, she also created gospel play "Merry Christmas! Or Not?" and "The Reborn?"

In 2011, she has received funding from Hong Kong Arts Development Council under the Emerging Artists Project Grant, she established ThreeWoods Playwright in the same year, created and produced "Revelation Of Love" , "Every Little Thing", "Bon Voyage" , " "Shi Yī" 
and "The Curious Incident of A Little Girl (Hong Kong & Guilin Version)" (Collaboration with Ma Chai Sand Art), "Solitaire"  (Collaboration with TwoMouthRice) , "The Immigration Lottery" (Premiere in Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2014, 2015 Hong Kong Umbrella Festival & 2016 Adelaide Fringe Festival) , "The Height" (Charity Production Commissioned by REN Coaching Research Institute) and "All About Ruby", “Coffee.Sand.Theater” (The 100th Cohort of City and Guilds Barista Course Celebrating Activity).

She is currently acting and public speaking instructor coaching in both elementary schools, secondary schools, college and NGOs. She also engaged in advertising script writing and appearing in government propaganda. Cooperation includes the Hospital Authority, Burger King, the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, Life Leading Association and Chu Hai College.

She also started blogging in 2013, and her article could be found in Magaristo.com, thestandnews.com and memehk.com. 

She is currently working on her first culinary book "Grandma and The Theatrical Home Cook".

Graduated from the School of Drama of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) with Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama (Honours), majoring in Acting; “Drama-In-Education techniques for Drama tutors” by the School and Chung Ying Theatre Company; “Certificate in East/West Theatre Studies” by the University of Hong Kong SPACE. During her study, she received Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation Scholarship, Ben & Benson Company Ltd Scholarships and The Hongkong Bank Foundation Hong Kong – Mainland Exchange Scholarships, and visited Sichuan and Tokyo.

After graduated from HKAPA, Angel has continued acting and physical training in PIP School, Philippe Gaulier Master class and Horizon Theatre Studio Ltd after graduated. Whereas, she joined Theatre Horizon in 2007, and as Education & Outreaching Manager in 2010-12, which produced and performed various school touring productions: ”Searching for the Happiness Ville” (Drug Abuse), “Super Politeman: Happy School” (School category), “Super Politeman: Happy to Begin” (Social & Library categories), “The Broken Window” (Collaboration with The Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention, Hong Kong).

Angel is also an experienced acting coaching, cooperation included “Drama in Pre-primary Education: Funful Learning Project” and the research project “A School, Theatre and University Partnership in Integrating Drama into Preschool Curriculum”, which launch by Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, so as to assist the development of drama curriculum in early childhood at schools. Moreover, she has co-operated with St. James’ Settlement Continued Education Centre and write the drama programme “Be the Master of your Emotion ─ Pre-school Drama (Emotional) Education Programme” and coaching in both pre-school and teachers’ drama workshops.

Vincy Leung (Technical Coordinator)

Vincy Leung received her BEng in Computer Science and Msc in Information Technology from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

She also worked for other performance groups as SM/DSM including "RELEASE‧RELIVE" of Double Double Creation, "孤圖" and "搏擊會" of Prospects Theatre – Playwright Scheme, "The Gospel" of Ivy’s Ballet School, "YBA Education Project 2012–Spring Gala"of Youth Ballet of Asia, "Princess Ice-Lolly" and "The Frog Groom" MingRi Institute for Arts Education, Mimi x Joseph "Over-come/Over.come", "The Anonymous" of Syan Production, "Humming Dialogues" of TwoMouthRice.

She joined ThreeWoods Playwright in 2011 as technical coordinator and lighting designer. Vincy Leung (Technical Coordinator)

Vincy Leung received her BEng in Computer Science and Msc in Information Technology from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. 

Vincy joined Theatre Horizon in 2007 and the latest role was technical coordinator. Productions worked for Theatre Horizon including: "Rose and Rosa", "Hey God, Did You Drop Somthing?!", "I AM HAPPY", "The Leftout" (actress and lighting design), "French Kiss" (first run and re-run), Theatre Horizon x Tracy Fok "Au Bord de la Vie".

Graduated from Hong Kong Academy of performing Arts, major Stage Management and technical Directing; Tsui is a graduate of MFA. As former Technical Director of The Hong Kong Ballet, Tsui also worked with professional performing arts companies such as Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Hong Kong Dance Company, HKAPA, CCDC, High Noon Production, etc. Tsui had experienced in production management accumulated over 160 productions, world touring over 16 countries, 110 theatres / concert halls and parks. Those companies included but not limited to Northern Ballet, HK Arts Festival, Fringe Festival, Christine Liao Ballet School, Actors’ Family, Yuring-dancing, Moscow Circuits, Ivy’s Ballet Company, Dance Arts, etc.

Recently, Tsui excavate her career as set and visual concept designer; she also started her tutorial courses based on theatrical management, both for HKAPA Fast Track and her own Company.

Tsui also acted as a Resident Technical and production consultant of Youth Ballet of Asia. Tsui is now working for Club Med – a world wide resort group, as Technical and stage production expert for Greater China Region.

Mimi Lo (Resident Movement Coach)

  

Mimi Lo graduated at the Hong Kong Academy for performing Arts, modern dance, majoring in Choreography & Dance Directing. Recently, she has focus on Contact Improvisation, Argentine Tango & Latin dance. She was back from US and studied with Nancy Stark Smith for a 3-weeks intensive improvisation workshop in Jan 2016. She completed the DanceAbility Teacher Certification Course in July 2015 in Helsinki, Finland led by Alito Alessi and was participated in Contact Festival Freiburg 2015 and Contact Meets Contemporary Festival 2014 & 2015 in Germany.

Her creations included: Humming Dialogue, Over-Come/ Over.Come and the dance theatre Solitaire with ThreeWoods Playwright. Her recent performances has been Mirage Oasis, created with yuenjie MARU, in Taipei I-dance festival 2015, Hong Kong I-dance festival 2014 & Shenzhen Fringe Festival 2014, which developed the idea of CI and tango. She also performed in The immigration Lottery of ThreeWoods Playwright in Adelaide Fringe Festival 2016, Hong Kong Umbrella Festival 2015 & Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2014.

Mimi started her dance teaching since 1996. She was the full-time teaching artist of Leap! which organized by The Robert H.N. Ho Family Foundation and The Cloud Gate Dance School of Taiwan. She had the teacher training of creative dance for children at Cloude Gate Dance School in 2009-2010. The musical The Awakening by L plus H Creations Foundation was filmed as a documentary My Voice, My Life, that Mimi involved as the choreographer & tutor in 2013. In 2015, she started to teach CI workshops in Guangzhou, China and jams on the grass in Hong Kong with Yuenjie MARU.
